In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping started the Belt and Road Initiative. The initiatives received positive responses from many countries for bringing new cooperation opportunities in a wide range of industry sectors. In 2015, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ratified and put healthcare related sectors on the agenda of global development. In response to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiatives, since 2016, the Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express, with the cooperation of International Health and Exchange Coooperation Center of National Health Commission, had carried out Belt and Road International Sight Saving Missions in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Pakistan. Lifeline Express had organized Chinese eye doctors to visit these countries to carry out cataract operations for the poor and the needy for free, and trained local eye doctors. It promoted people-to-people bondage, as well as to further strengthened the cooperation in health care. Up to January 2018, Lifeline Express has helped 1,502 cataract patients to regain their eye sight in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Pakistan.

In order to consolidate and expand cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road ("B&R"), Lifeline Express had plans to visit 6 countries along the B&R from 2018 to 2020, further promoting the implementation of the “International Sight Saving missions Programme for the B&R”. Lifeline Express now sincerely invites enterprises in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, which support teh B&R Initiatives, to sponsor International Sight Saving Mission. The programme for corporate sponsorship will be promoted through various websites, news media, and other publicity campaigns. All sponsorship enterprises will be invited to 6 countries along the Belt and Road.
